Coupling
The coupling is a mechanical connecting element transmitting power between the drive and pump shafts. It compensates for axial, radial and bracket shaft displacements and protects the pump against undesired loads that may arise from vibrations or misalignments.
Different coupling types are available depending on the application and operating conditions, including flexible, rigid or hydrodynamic couplings. Flexible couplings dampen shocks and reduce wear, while rigid couplings provide direct power transmission without movement compensation. Hydrodynamic couplings use a fluid filling to transfer torque gently and are particularly suitable for applications with high speeds or variable loads. Choosing the proper coupling is crucial for the entire pump system's operational reliability, efficiency and service life.
