Lean & Green Management Award: Special Prize for NETZSCH
Convincing sustainability! NETZSCH Pumps & Systems was awarded the special “Green Excellence” prize at the Lean & Green Summit in early October.
The awards recognised the outstanding results achieved by the global specialist in handling complex media in the areas of end-to-end sustainability, the effectiveness of CO2 reduction measures and the integration of sustainability into management systems.
Award for sustainability and lean achievements

Proven Excellence
Johann Vetter (Head of Sustainability Management at the NETZSCH Group) and Nina Schwalm (Sustainability Manager), Kevin Perseis (Team Lead Quality Processes), Jakob Bartinger (Head of Engineering Services), Josef Baumann (Head of Technical Infrastructure / Building and Facility Manager), Sebastian Mair (Head of Metal Technology) and Richard Maier (Project Manager Strategic Projects) accepted the award in Mettlach at Villeroy & Boch – and gave the participating guests exciting insights into the factory redesign in Waldkraiburg, reduction of throughput time and NETZSCH's CO2 reduction path in a best practice presentation. The Lean & Green Management Award has been presented annually since 2012. It offers companies the opportunity to have their sustainability and lean strategies evaluated within the framework of a benchmark and to learn from each other. Scientific support is provided by the Technical University of Munich and the Technical University of Würzburg-Schweinfurt. An independent jury from the fields of science, business and media analyses the approaches and implementations of the participating companies in the areas of sustainability and lean management.
Johann Vetter: “Confirmation and incentive”

“We are delighted to receive this special award and see it as an incentive to continue on this path.”
“This award is an excellent confirmation of our commitment to sustainability. It shows that our measures towards green excellence are targeting exactly where it counts – along the entire value chain. To us, lean management and sustainability are not a contradiction, but two sides of the same coin: efficient, well thought-out and future-oriented. We are delighted to receive this special award and see it as an incentive to continue on this path”, explained Vetter at the award ceremony. The goal of “green excellence” at NETZSCH is to increase ecological and economic efficiency in the long term. This forms the basis for our sustainability framework, which encompasses the areas of circular economy, climate protection and social responsibility.
Sustainability meets efficiency
“Lean production, sustainable products and processes, and responsible use of our resources have always been among our priorities”, emphasised the Head of Sustainability Management at the NETZSCH Group. Lean management is a key lever in achieving this goal. The targeted use of methods and tools, such as shop floor management, value stream analysis, 5S, and Kaizen, makes it possible to clearly define goals in individual areas and implement them in a structured manner.
The award not only highlights NETZSCH's consistent commitment to sustainability but also the company’s active pursuit of “Proven Excellence” in all its processes and products.
