NPSHR Value

The NPSHR value (Net Positive Suction Head Required) refers to a vital pump parameter. The NPSHR value indicates how much pressure or energy is required at the suction side of a pump to prevent the pump from experiencing cavitation.

Cavitation occurs when the pressure at the inlet of a pump is too low, and the liquid starts to evaporate. This can result in damage to the pump and reduced pump efficiency. The standard unit for the NPSHR value is usually metres of water column (m or mWC). The NPSHR value is an essential parameter for pump systems as it ensures that the pump receives sufficient pressure at the inlet to avoid cavitation. This value depends on several factors, including pump size, pumped liquid and operating conditions. It is essential to consider the NPSHR value to ensure that the pump operates correctly and that no damage occurs.
