Spreading Christmas Cheer: Employees Fulfil Dreams

Bringing joy to others is what Christmas is all about! This time of year holds a special magic for children and often for adults, too. Unfortunately, however, not everyone is on the sunny side of life and able to enjoy receiving gifts. For this reason, employees at NETZSCH Pumps & Systems fulfilled the Christmas wishes of more than 132 traumatised children and young people from the region, bringing a sparkle to their eyes.

As in previous years, a wishing tree was set up in the FELIX Café & Restaurant on the NETZSCH Campus in Waldkraiburg in cooperation with the local charity project Suibamoond e.V. from Burghausen (Bavaria).

Bringing joy to children in difficult circumstances

Bright eyes and joyful anticipation: The children were absolutely delighted with their gifts.

The Christmas tree, decorated with fairy lights and baubles, was adorned with wish lists from the children and young people supported by the charity organisation. NETZSCH employees could choose a wish and purchase the corresponding gift. The gifts were collected at the company and presented by CFO Jens Heidkötter on behalf of the organisation’s employees. Alfons Hasenknopf, the association’s 1st chairman, and a few children attended the handover at the company restaurant. “Every year, I am touched by the heartfelt commitment shown by NETZSCH employees. For our children and young people, each gift means much more than its material value. It gives them a feeling of being seen, hope, and a bit of lightheartedness in what is often a difficult time”, said the chairman. Suibamoond cares for children who have been victims of physical, emotional, or sexual abuse. The association comprises experts from counselling centres and organisations dedicated to the welfare of children and young people, primarily in the districts of Burghausen, Mühldorf, and Altötting.

Wishing tree makes children’s dreams come true

Children who have experienced physical, emotional or sexual abuse need professional support to process their traumatic experiences and stabilise their everyday lives. At the same time, it is essential to provide them with small moments of joy and normalcy. This is precisely where NETZSCH's wishing tree comes in. From toddlers to young adults, everyone was allowed to design their own star. This resulted in a diverse range of heartfelt wishes, ranging from trainers and inline skates to a desk and even a drone – and best of all, all wishes were fulfilled by NETZSCH employees. For more expensive gifts, entire teams even joined forces. Two-year-old Rayan’s wish for building blocks was fulfilled. “Christmas is something magical for children. Knowing that I can fulfil a child’s heart’s desire with my gift on this special day touches me every time”, says Brigitte Sassin, Market Research. The NEMO® development team, led by Philipp Nübl, presented the Vitus group with a Nintendo Switch: “It’s a matter close to our hearts because children’s dreams know no bounds and every child’s smile counts.”

In the days leading up to Christmas, Suibamoond volunteers distributed the gifts so they would be under the Christmas tree in time. Each gift helped to bring a little Christmas joy to a child or young person in a challenging life situation.
