NPSHA Value

The NPSHA value (Net Positive Suction Head Available) is an important parameter related to pumps and refers to the energy or pressure available at the suction side of a pump. The NPSHA value is usually measured in metres (m).

To calculate the NPSHA value, various factors must be considered, including the hydrostatic pressure on the fluid being pumped at the suction side, the kinetic force due to the speed of the fluid and the atmospheric pressure. These values are expressed in units of metres and then used to calculate the NPSHA value. A sufficient NPSHA value is essential to avoid cavitation, which can occur if the pressure on the suction side of the pump is too low. Cavitation can cause damage to the pump and affect pump efficiency. Therefore, knowing the NPSHA value is crucial to ensure that a pump works correctly and that no problems occur.
