Self-priming
Self-priming refers to a pump's ability to remove air from the suction line and independently prime the pumped medium without external assistance. This allows the pump to operate even when the suction line is not filled with liquid.
This is particularly advantageous in applications where the medium has to be pumped from lower-lying or difficult-to-reach areas. Self-priming pumps are often used in industry, construction, and mobile applications where reliable pumping is required, even under challenging conditions. Whether a pump is self-priming depends on its design. Factors such as suction height, medium properties and pipe routing must be considered to ensure optimal suction performance.
