A screw pump, also known as a multi screw pump, is a rotary positive displacement pump. It conveys media via intermeshing spindles, which transport the material evenly and with minimal pulsation. This technology is particularly suitable for sensitive, highly viscous or abrasive liquids.
How does a screw pump work?
The functioning of a screw pump is based on the principle of rotary displacement. Inside the pump, two or more spindles interlock and form enclosed delivery chambers. The rotational movement of the spindles continuously transports the medium from the suction to the pressure side. This process is smooth, almost pulsation-free and with minimal shear stress. Therefore, even sensitive or highly viscous liquids can be conveyed gently.
