Shear Sensitivity

Shear sensitivity describes the behaviour of a medium when subjected to shear forces. These forces arise when different liquid layers move at different speeds, such as through a pump or a pipe. 

Shear-sensitive media, such as emulsions, dispersions or viscous substances, react sensitively to mechanical stress. Excessive shear stress can lead to separation, changes in viscosity or the breakdown of sensitive components. Particularly in the food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries, it is crucial to use conveying technologies that enable gentle and uniform conveying to maintain product quality.
