Team Building, Fun Puzzles, and High Spirits: Apprentices’ Excursion

Whether it was a factory tour, team building or an escape room, the NETZSCH Pumps & Systems trainees experienced two exciting days full of new impressions and unforgettable moments.

Our commercial apprentices, Anna Hausberger, Magdalena Schneider and Christina Eder, take you on an exciting journey and report on the two-day apprentice excursion. Their diary entry tells us where the trip took them and what exciting things they experienced.

Day 1: Early start, big impressions

The alarm clock rang, which felt like it was in the middle of the night – at 5 am! At 6 am, we were already on our way from the NETZSCH Campus in Waldkraiburg. Still a little sleepy, but full of anticipation, we jumped into the bus. Our destination: Tübingen near Stuttgart, or more precisely, Paul Horn GmbH.

After about four hours of driving (including a breakfast break), we arrived at the Paul Horn GmbH and were warmly welcomed by Mr. Dürr and Mr. Füger. This was followed by an exciting company presentation: From its founding by Paul Horn in 1969 to today’s production of high-precision tools for a wide range of industries. Especially exciting: The videos on the manufacture and application of the tools – some of which our industrial mechanics were even familiar with from their everyday work!

Afterwards, we had lunch together in the company canteen. After a good meal, we continued with a presentation on coatings. At the end, we had an exclusive tour of the factory, split into groups. We were especially impressed by factory 2, where we could watch the tools being coated live, which was even more interesting to us than the theoretical part about coatings. But we commercial trainees were especially happy about the mini tour of the office space. It was almost as lovely as ours, but of course, only nearly.

In the evening, we checked into our hotel – finally, some time to take a breath and lie down in bed for five minutes. But then it was time to get going again...

...off to the tram and then to dinner. Since our hotel was located in the city, pizza, burgers, and pasta were only a few minutes away. The evening ended in a relaxed atmosphere with good conversation and lots of laughter. Of course, we won’t be giving away any details.

Day 2: Team spirit & solving puzzles

Trainees celebrate their escape room success, holding playful signs reflecting teamwork and fun in Stuttgart.
Solved together : Our trainees successfully mastered the Escape Room in Stuttgart.

We felt like we had just fallen into bed when the alarm clock rang again – breakfast was about to be served. We quickly brushed our teeth and freshened up. Phew, we made it just in time. We didn’t want to make a bad impression on our trainers.

After breakfast, we had only one target: The escape room in Stuttgart. In small groups, we were invited to immerse ourselves in various scenarios, from mysterious cases to mathematical puzzles. Our room was about the inheritance our grandmother left us. But our mean aunt Ingrid hid our inheritance in her apartment. So, we had to find the stolen inheritance in her apartment within an hour – not an easy task. Our nerves were getting more and more frayed as the clock ticked down. It wouldn’t be long before aunt Ingrid caught us searching for the inheritance. Just in time, we found the inheritance in a safe. Thank God we made it. Unfortunately, this also meant the trainee’s trip was already coming to an end.

The drive home? Of course, everyone overslept after the short night. But we can say that this year’s trainee trip was once again a successful mix of professional knowledge, team building, and lots of fun. We were able to take away valuable impressions, both professionally and personally.

On behalf of all the trainees, we would like to thank the youth and trainee representatives, our trainers and the management who made this fantastic trip possible.

We are already looking forward to next year!

Anna, Magdalena & Christina
