Scope 1
The term Scope 1 encompasses all direct greenhouse gas emissions resulting from a company's activities. These include, for example, emissions resulting from the combustion of fossil fuels in the company's own facilities or vehicles, as well as emissions from chemical processes or leaks.
These emissions are directly controllable by the company and represent a central aspect of corporate responsibility in climate protection. Measures to reduce Scope 1 emissions can be achieved, for example, by using energy-efficient technologies, switching to renewable energies or optimising production processes. The term is part of the international standard for recording greenhouse gas emissions, as defined in the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
